As 2021 comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment to share with you some of the highlights from the year on behalf of Idaho Young Republicans (IYR) and announce our new campaign as we head into 2022.
What started with seven members has grown to a family of over 500 strong. We are reaching more than 3,000 people daily on social media and are hosting events across the state. IYR has been recognized as the fastest growing out of all other state organizations in the country. We had more than a dozen members run for and get elected into local or statewide office across Idaho.
While we should all feel proud of the effort this year, our accomplishments were the warm up lap for the real race in 2022.
With the influx of new residents to the state of Idaho, it is more critical than ever to invest in tomorrow’s conservative future. If you look at the data trends, Democrats picked up over 10% more of the vote in Idaho in 2020 than just four years earlier. In certain areas of Canyon, Ada and Kootenai counties, they picked up over 30% more votes than last election. Modeling shows that Ada and Canyon can become swing counties by 2026 with the state becoming purple in 2028. This impacts us all.

Today we are launching our theme for 2022. It is called “Idaho: Our Future. Our Choice.”
IYR members are ages 18-40. They are coming out of student loans, saving for a first home, or trying to start a family. “Bidenflation” and rising home prices are really hitting hard. Discretionary spending is at a premium and often is a barrier to taking the first step towards political engagement. This is why we have been committed to raising money and keeping costs as low as possible. We never want finances to be a reason someone disengages.
I’d like to ask that you carefully consider investing in Idaho Young Republicans. I say invest because you are getting a return for your investment. You are helping to recruit, train, and elect the next generation of conservative leaders across Idaho.
Our hope is to raise $50,000 in the next 50 days. With your help, we will recruit 1,000 members this upcoming year to support the general election and take back the gains democrats made. These funds will help us host events, provide trainings, and create a bench strength to support campaigns and candidates across every corner of the state.
